Federal Government to Investigate 107 Private Universities

The Federal Government of Nigeria has established an inter-ministerial committee to investigate the activities of private and foreign universities  in the country.

 The committee will examine whether these universities have the necessary facilities, appropriate management structure, sufficient funding, and the necessary personnel.

 The commission's terms of reference include investigating private universities established in the past 15 years.

 This includes 107  out of a total of 147 private universities in Nigeria.

 The investigation will focus on ensuring that these universities meet the required standards and provide quality education to  students.

 The commission will also investigate allegations of fraud and corruption in these institutions.

 The federal government's decision to investigate private universities is a welcome step.

 This helps ensure that these institutions operate in accordance with the law and provide quality education to  students.
