President Tinubu Calls for Conclusive Victory Against Security Threats
Friday, March 10, 2023 President Bola Tinubu has directed Nigeria's security chiefs to ensure a decisive victory in the fight against the numerous security challenges confronting the country. During a presidential security briefing at the State House in Abuja, Tinubu emphasized the need for a final resolution to the multifaceted security threats despite the progress made in eradicating them in different regions. "I do not take my intelligence reports lightly," Tinubu remarked. "I have various sources of information. The Navy and other military branches must intensify their efforts to attain our goals for the benefit of all Nigerians. We will forcefully eliminate all malicious actors from our midst." Tinubu warned those working against the national agenda from within and outside the country that they will face justice. He highlighted the importance of sustaining momentum and making failure unacceptable under his leadership. The President emphasized the need for investments in critical sectors, including soft and physical infrastructure, social security, and MSME empowerment. He outlined the goal of achieving a $1 trillion economy in the coming years, stressing that ongoing security operations must be brought to a conclusion to secure economic expansion. Tinubu acknowledged the successes achieved by the security forces but also expressed concern over avoidable errors, such as the recent incident in Kaduna. He called for improved coordination among all agencies and emphasized that celebrations would be premature until security threats are eliminated, troops can return to their home regions, and resources can be allocated to critical economic programs. The President's directive to the security chiefs signals a renewed commitment to addressing the security challenges facing Nigeria and creating a more secure environment for citizens and economic growth.
