PDP Governors Pledge Support to Federal Government in Tackling Insecurity Sokoto, Nigeria

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governors have expressed their commitment to support the federal government's efforts in addressing the rising security challenges in the nation. This pledge was made at the end of a meeting held on Thursday by the PDP Governors' Forum at the Sokoto Governor's Lodge in Asokoro, Abuja. The meeting, which was attended by nearly all the PDP governors, followed closely on the heels of a similar one held by the party's Board of Trustees at their secretariat in Abuja. Speaking to journalists after the lengthy meeting, Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State, and chairman of the PDP Governors' Forum, declared that the governors would refrain from politicizing the issue of insecurity and would instead join forces with the federal government to combat the menace. Governor Tambuwal emphasized the PDP's resolve to collaborate with President Buhari and the federal government in addressing the urgent security challenges facing the nation, irrespective of political differences. He noted that the PDP governors were deeply concerned by the heightened insecurity and acknowledged the need for a non-partisan approach to tackle the issue. The forum resolved to engage in a comprehensive consultation process with stakeholders, including opposition parties, security agencies, traditional rulers, religious leaders, and civil society organizations. They aim to foster a unified front in addressing the security challenges and to explore innovative strategies for combating the growing threats to the nation's peace and stability. The PDP governors commended the efforts of the armed forces and other security agencies in their fight against insecurity. They pledged to provide the necessary support and collaboration to enhance the effectiveness of these efforts and to ensure the safety and security of all Nigerians.
