NSCDC Arrests Two Suspected Bandits in Kwara, Recovers Pistol and Tramadol
Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Kwara State have arrested two individuals suspected of involvement in banditry during a security operation in Saminaka Community.
The suspects, identified as Abubakar Jubril (28) and Mohammed Abubakar (26), were apprehended on March 3, 2026, following intelligence reports and surveillance activities carried out by NSCDC officers in the area.
According to the security agency, the two suspects were part of a group of three individuals who were seen moving suspiciously in a section of the community known for security challenges. While two of them were successfully arrested, the third suspect managed to escape and is currently being hunted by security operatives.
The development was confirmed in a statement by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Ayoola Michael Shola, who explained that the operation was based on credible intelligence gathered by the command.
Weapons and Drugs Recovered
During the operation, officers recovered several items believed to be linked to criminal activity. These include:
A pistol reportedly manufactured in the United States with Serial Number 7835
A mobile phone
Suspected illicit drugs identified as Tramadol
Cigarettes
The suspects and the seized items were later presented to journalists at the NSCDC Command headquarters in Kwara State.
Commandant Speaks on Security Efforts
While addressing reporters, the Kwara State Commandant of the NSCDC, Bala Bawa Bodinga, reaffirmed the agency’s determination to strengthen security operations across the state.
He noted that the arrests were part of ongoing intelligence-driven efforts aimed at dismantling criminal networks operating within the state.
Bodinga also warned individuals involved in criminal activities to immediately desist or face the full consequences of the law.
Public Cooperation Needed
The commandant further called on residents of Kwara State to support security agencies by providing timely and reliable information that could assist in tackling crime.
According to him, community cooperation remains essential in maintaining peace and ensuring effective security operations.
He added that the suspects would face prosecution after investigations are completed, or may be transferred to the appropriate security authorities for further investigation.
