Vice President Kashim Shettima has arrived in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State, following the recent bomb explosions that claimed the lives of at least 23 people and left over 100 others injured.
The visit, carried out on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is aimed at assessing the situation on ground and offering condolences to victims and their families.
According to his spokesman, Stanley Nkwocha, the Vice President was received at the Maiduguri International Airport by top government officials, including the Deputy Governor of Borno State, Umar Usman Kadafur, alongside other political leaders.

The attacks, believed to have been carried out by suicide bombers, happened during the Ramadan iftar period, causing panic among residents.
Casualties and Emergency Response
Authorities confirmed that at least 23 people lost their lives, while 108 others sustained varying degrees of injuries.
Security agencies quickly responded by securing the affected areas and deploying bomb disposal experts to prevent further attacks. Victims were also rushed to nearby hospitals for urgent medical treatment.
Security Concerns Rise Again
The incident has once again raised serious concerns about the security situation in Nigeria’s North-East, despite previous claims that insurgent activities had been largely controlled.
The Nigeria Police Force also confirmed that investigations are ongoing, while efforts continue to ensure the safety of residents in the region.
Meanwhile, the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, had earlier visited the state to sympathize with victims and assess the situation.
