Speaking at a dinner for members of the National Assembly on Wednesday in Abuja, President Buhari acknowledged the challenges posed by banditry, insurgencies, kidnapping, and other criminal activities. He emphasized that these issues have hindered the government's efforts to build infrastructure, provide essential social amenities, and attract investments that drive innovation, job creation, and wealth generation. According to a statement by the President's Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Chief Femi Adesina, some individuals engage in criminal acts for monetary gain, while others are motivated by deceptive ideologies. Irrespective of their motives, President Buhari stressed that their actions pose a significant threat to the nation. The President urged the government and its agencies to remain focused on addressing the security challenges without distractions. He expressed confidence that the collective efforts of the administration and the legislature would lead to a successful end to the ongoing security issues. President Buhari also commended the 9th National Assembly for demonstrating maturity and professionalism in carrying out its legislative duties. He recognized the crucial role of the legislature in fostering national growth and development. The President specifically acknowledged the support and cooperation extended by the minority parties in the legislature, emphasizing the importance of effective partnership and collaboration between the Executive and the Legislature in governing Nigeria effectively.
